Limiting beliefs are assumptions or convictions we hold about ourselves or the world that hold us back. They usually form in childhood and can remain hidden in our subconscious for years, subtly sabotaging our progress.

Some common limiting beliefs include "I’m not good enough," "I’ll never be successful," or "I’m too old to change." These statements become self-fulfilling prophecies unless we consciously rewrite them.

How to Identify and Change Limiting Beliefs

  • Awareness: Notice your automatic thoughts when faced with a challenge.
  • Question: Ask yourself — is this absolutely true? Who says so?
  • Replace: Create empowering alternatives, like "I am learning and growing every day."

Louise Hay’s affirmation techniques offer a powerful way to dismantle these beliefs and replace them with empowering ones.
